In January, Headwaters Communities in Action thanked the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their recent $204,000 investment and acknowledged the organization as an essential partner in helping to build a strong Headwaters region. Over the next three years, HCIA will use these OTF funds to support action on a variety of community projects.

CAN-BIKE Instructor
Would you like to share your love of cycling and get free certification as a CANBIKE Cycling Instructor? HCIA wants 10-15 area volunteers who are interested in becoming certified CAN-BIKE safe cycling instructors. We are hosting workshops in April and May, if you are a cycling enthusiast who wants to share your love of cycling with others, this is the program for you.

Rural Transportation Options for Dufferin
Inadequate transportation options are a reality for Dufferin County residents and the need to enhance them has been consistently identified by many different groups. The Dufferin Rural Transportation Learning Group has a goal to develop specific recommendations for improvement in this area.

Headwaters Food System
Update on the 5 Priorities: Working Groups have been launched for each of the 2012 Headwaters Food Summit’s five priorities. Learn more about: the Working Groups’ evolving Year 1 Action Plans; how you can get involved; and, upcoming plans to establish a Headwaters Food System Roundtable by the end of April 2013.

Headwaters Trail Maps
Area trails are part of what we love most about living here and a frequent question is: Where can I find local trails? HCIA has now compiled information on 20 Headwaters Trails – including maps – onto our web site. Go for a hike this long weekend.

Rural Social Enterprise
A social enterprise generates revenue that gives a non-profit organization an alternate source of funds to better fulfill its mandate. The Rural Social Enterprise Constellation supports the development of Social Enterprise in rural Ontario with Learning Events.
