Over 750 meals were delivered to Orangeville and Dufferin County clients as a direct result of receiving a DC grant. With 90% of recipients being older adults experiencing financial hardship, a mental health concern and/or a physical disability, meal delivery also provided vital check in opportunities helping to reduce social isolation and increase access to other needed social services.
Sharing new music with the community, supporting the Beginner band and enabling a return to the stage were all made possible by a DC grant. We are grateful to be back!
Historically serving as a gathering place and community hub, the pandemic impacted operations and grant funds were considered a lifeline to saving this beautiful space for future generations.
Connecting students to each other and to free digital access and online resources, YFC used grant funds to create, enhance and promote a safe space for youth to gather.
With enhanced virtual and digital accessibility, our grant helped promote existing and emerging artists, augment the in-person gallery experience and support Dufferin as an arts-focussed tourism destination.
The DC grant provided vital support for our healthy food for hungry minds “Food and Friends” program, enhancing student nutrition, learning opportunities, fostering inclusion and helping prevent food insecurity.
Connecting newcomers with our community, grant funds were used to enroll children in various activities, foster a cross-cultural farming initiative and facilitated “made in Canada” experiences enriching the lives of newcomers in meaningful ways.
With the generous assistance from the Dufferin County Community Grant, Fiddlehead Care Farm was able to offer a land-based education component to this year’s programming.
As we move into what is now the new normal, we have started to engage in more community activities in person.
The funds received from the County of Dufferin were used to create & distribute information about CDVS specifically geared to Dufferin newcomers.
