Project: Create a Local Expedition Training Program
The Army Cadets Expedition Training Program challenges cadets to develop skills in field training, navigation, trekking, wilderness survival and leadership. Cadets push their mental and physical limits while putting into practice the self-reliance, leadership, and spirit of adventure they have learned in their weekly training.
Traditionally, Expedition Training requires travel outside of Dufferin County. Mid-level Cadets have just one weekend option for Expedition Training each year and Senior Cadets must apply for limited available opportunities. Offering this training locally, makes our Corps more resilient to future disruptions, reduces dependence on limited shared resources and gives us greater control over the delivery of this critical program. It also allows us to hold joint training weekends with other Corps, serving Dufferin youth, who may not otherwise have access to the program.
About Cadets:
Army Cadets is a FREE program for youth between the ages of 12-18, providing the opportunity to test their limits through participation in challenging and exciting activities. Cadets acquire strong leadership skills, strive toward an active health/fitness life and seek to become strong community citizens. Cadets have experiences that you don’t find anywhere else.
The 1849 Lorne Scots RCACC is based out of Orangeville District Secondary School (ODSS) and meets each Wednesday evening (6:30 to 9:30PM) from September to June. There are also optional training opportunities available during the training year and in the summer.
