2024 Dufferin County Grant Recipient Stories

Community Grants <$3,000
- The Brave CanoeThe Dufferin County Community Grant provided vital support to The Brave Canoe in its early days, enabling us to start hosting meaningful cultural events for the community.
- Orangeville Fiddle & Stepdance ContestThe Orangeville Fiddle & Stepdance Contest was able to host a traditional music event for a local audience featuring performers from across Ontario, thanks to the Dufferin County Community Grant.
- Primrose Elementary SchoolWith Community Grant, Primrose Elementary School was able to support our Nutrition Program, providing healthy and delicious snacks that enable our kids to focus on learning.
- Headwaters Health Care Centre (Telecheck)Headwaters Health Care Centre- TeleCheck partnered with Polycultural Immigrant and Community Services to provide wellness and social calls in additional languages.
- Rotary Club Of ShelburneWe were able to grow our Pumpkinfest to provide an event for a diversity of people from the Shelburne community.
- Grand Valley Garden ClubRefurbishment of the gardens surrounding the Cenotaph in Grand Valley
- North Dufferin Agricultural TaskforceFunds gratefully received from the HCIA groundwork grant were used to help facilitate NDACT’s part in the Well Registration Program pursuant to Appendix C – Wells and Natural Features Protocol of the Community Engagement Agreement signed June 12, 2023, between NDACT and Strada Aggregates Inc. utilizing various marketing methods.
- Orangeville Community BandBand concerts were provided to a senior residence and two schools.
- Orton Community AssociationWe provided two free fitness classes for our community once a week for 27 weeks.
- East Garafraxa Public SchoolWe were able to purchase a variety of fresh fruit and other nutritious food for our snack program.
- Dufferin County Canadian Black AssociationBusiness Networking – Skill Building & Cultural Awareness Program
- Centre Fellowship Church – Centre CafeA new freezer and freezer meal packaging was purchased for Centre Cafe to help support our community endeavors to help provide food for the Lighthouse, Pulse Cafe and other food insecurities within the community.
- Caledon Meals on WheelsWith a community grant of $2000 we were able to subsidize meals for seniors in need to ensure no senior goes without a hot and nutritious meal.
- Bethell HospiceWith a community grant of $1,500 we were able to waive the participant fee for the Hike for Bethell Hospice event, encouraging 485 people to join and helping us raise over $247,000 in support of Bethell Hospice residents, their families, and community support programs.
Community Grants >$3,000
- Youth Activists Inc.With the grant money graciously provided to us, Youth Activists Inc. created our environmental/climate change awareness campaign, “Ignorance Isn’t Bliss,” educating youth about climate misinformation.
- Highlands Youth For ChristSuperwoman became Canadian! This girls’ program originally established by YFC Netherlands, was adapted and prepared for its first launch in Canada, here in Dufferin thanks to Grant Dollars!
- Westminister United Church OrangevilleThe Westminster United Church Garden Transformation Project gratefully received a generous grant from Dufferin County Community to help us grow our sustainable food production and fuel a movement of people growing and sharing food in Orangeville and beyond.
- Streams Community HubStreams Community Hub used the 2024 Dufferin County Community Grant to support the delivery of enriching summer camp programs, making them accessible to more youth.
- Dufferin Parent Support NetworkThe $5,000 community grant supported Dufferin Parent Support Network (DPSN) to offer 25 free parenting workshops in 2023-2024, benefiting nearly 600 parents and caregivers!
- Dufferin Film FestivalThe Dufferin Community Foundation grant supported the Dufferin Film Festival by funding critical operational costs, enabling the festival to expand its programming and reach a broader audience.
- Caledon Dufferin Victim ServicesThe grant allowed Caledon\Dufferin Victim Services to create new materials for outreach to families and newcomers to increase feelings of road safety and provided victims of motor vehicle collisions enhanced resources & support to aid in their recovery/healing process.
- Big Brothers Big SistersTo match more children in Dufferin County who are facing adversity with a caring adult mentor.
- Alzheimer Society of Dufferin CountyThe community grant enabled the successful implementation of The Social program, resulting in social engagement for persons living with dementia, thereby advancing their quality of life.
