2022 Dufferin County Food for Thought Grant Recipient
$3,000
Sharing our grant story
The Shepherd’s Cupboard Foodbank would like to thank you for your grant of $3000 in 2022. This money was used to support our Seniors Market Program. Our Seniors Market is a travelling farmers’ market that travels to the four county run senior homes in Shelburne every month. We provide eggs, milk, breakfast foods, bread, fresh produce and incontinent supplies to vulnerable seniors who might not otherwise utilize the foodbank.
Your generous grant was used to supply eggs, milk and breakfast cereals to those seniors who attended the market. We served approximately 50 seniors a month for ten months this past year, all who were in need of more nutritious foods and most who were experiencing food insecurity and health vulnerabilities. Without your grant, we would not have been able to provide this important service. These seniors were extremely grateful for this service, often gathering early to chat with their neighbours as they waited for our arrival.
We greatly appreciated the opportunity to apply for this grant and what it helped us accomplish. We are hoping to expand it to include more rural areas of our north community.
Many thanks again for your support!
Sincerely,
Ardith Dunlop
