HCIA is generously supported by United Way of Guelph Wellington Dufferin and this month they hosted an All-Agency Meeting on May 14th Hanlon Convention Centre in Guelph. This was an excellent opportunity for Shirley Boxem (HCIA Executive Director) to meet up with the other agencies supported by United Way and hear about all the other incredible supported projects. Our own project contact Shakiba Shayani gives us this posting as a reminder of the great investment made in Dufferin:
“March 18th, United Way Guelph Wellington Dufferin announced that, due to the tremendous success of our 2013 campaign, we are investing a total of $2.55 million in 53 local community agencies and 86 different programs!
United Way invests funds in community programs based on identified community needs. Local volunteers manage the distribution of funds, thoroughly researching and meeting with agencies applying to United Way to learn first-hand how their programs address local issues. This year, $100,000 is being invested in Dufferin County, to agencies including Dufferin Child and Family Services, Volunteer Dufferin and Headwaters Communities in Action. Several of our funded agencies will see an increase in their United Way funding over 2014-2015, including Big Brothers Big Sisters Dufferin (+$4,200) and Dufferin Parent Support Network (+$6,200).”
