HCIA/HFFA Project Update: Farm to School kicks off
The Education Literacy and Access group has officially hired Jennifer Payne to lead the Farm to School and Food Club projects. Jennifer is a not very secret foodie and a tireless advocate for getting local fresh food into the schools. This project is in good hands. Next steps in the project are to partner with host schools and build the learning kit. The group does have a short list of potential schools and farms to invite to participate.
The project team was treated to a demonstration of the Everdale Farm learning module and will be using much of that information and design for its program. In parallel, the Access subcommittee is busy exploring new models for food support, and is thinking of ways to raise awareness about local food access issues through events, a public challenge, and communication campaigns.
