Numbers Confirm Popularity of Headwaters Trails
It has long been known that the trails in Headwaters Region are one of the things that residents value. We also know that they are a magnet that draws visitors from the GTA and beyond for a hike, a meal and often some shopping in our local shops….but now, thanks to HCIA’s Trail Counter Loan Program, we are able to learn just how many people are taking advantage the many beautiful trails & parks throughout Dufferin and Caledon.
Trail counter loan program
In 2010, HCIA partnered with the Credit Valley Conservation Authority, to create a trail counter loan program. This enabled 5 area trails groups access to track just how many people were visiting a trail – and when. In the visual snapshot below, we are happy to share data that the trails counters that we, CVCA, and the Town of Caledon, now have to demonstrate concretely just how incredibly popular – are collecting is our way of sharing with you what the data from area trail counters of the numbers of visitors to a cross-section of well-loved area trails – and training starting to learn – with just HOW popular and well-used our trails and parks are throughout our communities.
If you have an idea for how to make our area trails and cycling system even better….and/or would like to get involved in making this happen, we’d love to hear from you, please connect with Headwaters Communities in Action.
