- Eat Local Caledon Farm to Table Directory – is intended to help restaurants, retailers, caterers and institutions to find local ingredients and products. The Directory contains information on local producers in Caledon, greater Peel Region and Headwaters Area that are interested in selling to local restaurants, caterers and shops.
- Wake Up Call: The National Vision and Voice We Need for Rural Canada – This report, by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, shines a light on the growing crisis in rural Canada and its implications for our national economy. It asks what role the federal government should play in rural communities and provides a road map for effective action in Ottawa.
- One Vision, Many Voices: How To Build a Sustainable Rural Canada– This Report is the result of a national symposium hosted by the Alberta Association of Municipal Districts and Counties. It identifies the key priorities for rural Canada and outlines a set of recommendations for how to build a sustainable rural Canada.
- In Every Community a Place for Food – This paper outlines the multi-faceted approach to food security modelled by The Stop Community Food Centre, the principles that underpin it and suggests that The Stop can serve as a model for those seeking to address key issues of food insecurity in other communities.
- Do You Know Where Your Food Comes From? – This video clip explains what’s happening to Canada’s local food system and why we should all care. It has been developed by Hellmann’s as part of its Real Food Movement campaign which includes recipes, resources and grants to support and encourage eating local.

- Eat Local Caledon – A project of the Caledon Countryside Alliance, the main objectives of Eat Local Caledon are to: raise awareness of the environmental, social, economic and cultural benefits of eating food that is produced locally; engage the public to support a local food system and make local food choices; and, build capacity and infrastructure to support the sale and distribution of local food and to facilitate local trade relationships.
- Caledon Countryside Alliance – is a non-profit organization that raises awareness of the importance and value of the countryside and works to ensure that Caledon maintains its rural nature.
- Food In the Hills – This Headwaters magazine and website is devoted to celebrating everything that has to do with food in our own backyard. It promises to “introduce us to the hard-working people who produce the things you eat, to the creative cooks who prepare it, and to the activists and policy-makers who care about it.”
- Dufferin Federation of Agriculture – is a group representing farmers rights and acting as a liaison between rural & agricultural neighbours.
- The Stop Community Food Centre – Over the years, The Stop has evolved from a food bank into a thriving community centre where people come together to grow, cook, and eat food, as well as to advocate for measures that can increase food security in the wider community. It maintains its emergency food programs, but has complemented them with a range of capacity- and skills-building programs. This site Learning Network shares videos, resources and information for other communities interested in addressing issues of food insecurity.
- Farmstart – offers a range of programs to support and encourage a new generation of farmers to develop locally based, ecologically sound and economically viable agricultural enterprises. Its programs include FarmLINK – which brings together new farmers who are looking for land or mentorship with farm owners who have land available or expertise to share.
- Everdale’s Farmer Growing Farmers Program – This suite of training programs is designed to get prospective new farmers trained and in the field. These programs emphasize: expert farmer mentoring; balancing curriculum-based training with hands-on skill development; and fostering connections – between newbies and experts, farmers to resources, farmers to the public and farmers to farmers.
