Sharing our story

As the School Council Parent Chair, I would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Dufferin County for the generous $5,000 Community Grant awarded in 2025. This funding has had a meaningful and lasting impact on the students of Princess Elizabeth Public School by significantly enhancing opportunities for physical activity, teamwork, and inclusive play. On behalf of our families, we are grateful for this investment in the health and well-being of our children and community.

The grant enabled our School Council to address equipment shortages that limited student participation during physical education classes and recess. With this funding, the school purchased more than 30 soccer balls, over 25 volleyballs, more than 20 basketballs, along with badminton birdies, frisbees, footballs, dodgeballs, yoga mats, a brand-new parachute, a storage cabinet, and additional supporting equipment. This comprehensive upgrade has allowed multiple classes and groups to participate in activities at the same time, ensuring greater access, improved organization, and more active engagement for all students.

The positive impact has been immediate and clearly visible. Teachers report increased participation and enthusiasm during physical education classes, while students are choosing active play more frequently during recess. The equipment supports the development of physical literacy, cooperation, and confidence, while ensuring that students of all abilities feel welcomed and included.

As one student shared, “Recess is more fun now because there’s always something to play with.” A teacher noted, “Having enough equipment means every student is moving, included, and engaged.”

This grant has directly benefited Dufferin residents by promoting healthy lifestyles, strengthening community connections, and supporting the physical and social development of local children.
