The annual Winter Wonderland Dance and Craft Show was a festive community event hosted at Montgomery Village Public School’s Parent Council, aimed at providing a high-quality, accessible, and inclusive celebration for MVPS students, parents, and the wider Dufferin community. The project featured free entry, which included: a professional DJ/dance, face painters, photo booth, and popcorn. A local craft show was also hosted to promote local businesses. Comprehensive signage placed throughout the community ensured that all community residents were aware of and welcomed to attend. In addition to the complimentary entertainment, the event received numerous donations from the community and local businesses which were raffled to raise funds for the school’s playground initiative.
The Dufferin grant funding was transformative, allowing the Parent Council to eliminate the cost and provide free entertainment. Specifically, the funds covered the cost of the DJ, photo booth, face painters, and popcorn machine/supplies. This significant financial support enabled approximately 300 people from the community to enjoy a memorable, high-quality event without any financial burden for entertainment. The event fostered a strong sense of community, provided a platform for local businesses, and created a welcoming, festive atmosphere for families during the winter season. The purchase of a durable popcorn maker ensures that this free refreshment can be offered at future events, extending the benefit of the grant beyond a single day.
