Sharing our grant story

The Orangeville Seniors Centre is a non-profit Senior Active Living Centre offering social, recreational, and volunteer opportunities for adults (55+) in Orangeville and Dufferin County. Our programs encourage seniors to remain active and independent in their own homes in their communities.

The Seniors Centre offers a peer mentoring program called Cyber Seniors with the objective of helping seniors overcome barriers to participation created by technology. With this knowledge translation program seniors in our community learn to connect via their device with social programs, health, and business applications. With the use of devices funded by generous grants such as the Dufferin County Community Grant seniors receive help on the device of their choice which could be an android tablet, ipad, cell phone or laptop computer. This program has offered close to 80 members the opportunity to learn, to be heard and have their technology issues resolved and has exposed them to some of the newest technology so they can make wise technology purchases. The mentors also learn a tremendous amount as they help others. These connections are life savers for many and improve the quality of life of seniors in our community.
