2021 Dufferin County Food for Thought Grant Recipient
$3,000 | Youth & Seniors Services

How thankful we are at Cafe @ the Centre for the blessing of the grant that was given to us last spring to help us create a better equipped commercial kitchen on the lower level of Centre Fellowship Church, where the Cafe is located.

The grant offered us the ability to install a proper sink system that allows us to better prepare and clean when we are making all of our monthly soups with our partnership with the Orangeville Food Bank’s Fresh Food For Seniors program. It has also opened up new opportunities to help serve our community with food security needs.

We were able to install a proper 3 sink system along with a grease trap and new faucet and sprayer. The sinks allow us to quick cool soups and do all the necessary cleaning that comes with making large batches of soup. We no longer have to take the pots, pans, and kitchen tools upstairs to the kitchen in the Cafe to clean and sanitize. It has saved us an enormous amount of time in cleaning.

We have a volunteer team that uses the sink system weekly and they have commented many times how thankful they are for this addition to our lower level kitchen.

“The new sink system has been extremely beneficial. Barb and her team have been able to safely and efficiently cool down and keep up with the demand for the Fresh Food for Seniors. It is great to know that no matter how many soups we need, the team will be able to pull through and support our program.” -Savanaha O’Reilly, Food Manager at the Orangeville Food Bank.
