Headwaters Communities in Action to Champion Collaboration

Headwaters Communities in Action thanked the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their recent $204,000 investment and acknowledged the organization as an essential partner in helping to build a strong Headwaters region. These funds will enable HCIA to champion collaborative action on priorities that emerged from HCIA’s earlier work on the Headwaters Community Well-Being Report.

Over the next three years, HCIA will use these OTF funds to support action on the following projects:

• Building a Robust and Just Food & Farming System –Work with a range of partners to support action on the five priorities identified by 2012 Headwaters Food Summit
• Promoting the Use of Headwaters Trails –Offer free CANBIKE Instructor Certification to area volunteers; and hosting a Headwaters Trails Event
• Supporting a Strong Not-for-Profit Sector
• Support greater sector-wide collaboration with a specific focus on generating opportunities to enhance rural transportation options.

Sylvia Jones, MPP for Dufferin-Caledon joined OTF representative Richard Fearon, HCIA Leadership members, and Headwaters Food System partners in congratulating HCIA on securing this much-needed funding.
