Headwaters Food Charter Survey
Public Consultation

Thank you to those who completed our survey!  Once we incorporate all of the feedback, we will finalize the food charter’s values and goals and move on to develop an action plan. Please stay tuned for updates on our progress.

What is a food charter?

A food charter is a community vision for our local food system. The charter is developed with input from businesses, municipalities, schools, community organizations, and interested community members. The food charter identifies values and goals for local food  and farming. These goals will be moved forward by fostering strong partnerships and collaborations in Headwaters with the goal of building healthier communities.

Vision:

The Headwaters Food and Farming Alliance (HFFA) envisions a food system in the Headwaters that is productive, sustainable, transparent, and fair; supports the health and well-being of our residents and food providers; and contributes to the prosperous and equitable economy.

Over the past year the Headwaters Food & Farming Alliance has worked with stakeholders to develop the following six pillar areas:

• Food Access & Equity
• Health & Well-being
• Economic Vitality
• Culture & Celebration
• Environmental Responsibility
• Agricultural Sustainability

As part of our initial phase in developing this food charter we are gathering input from the public on the charter’s values and goals. Once we incorporate all of the feedback, we will move into another phase where a local strategy will be developed to implement actions that will help us achieve our goals.

The Food Charter survey is now closed. If you complete the survey and provide us with your contact information, your name will be entered into our draw for a $100 gift certificate at The Globe Restaurant in Rosemont, Mrs. Mitchell’s Restaurant in Violet Hill or Soulyve in Orangeville.
