Community Well-being Reports
Community well-being is a complex interplay of social, cultural, economic, and environmental factors
HCIA’s Community Well-being reports have shone a spotlight on how we are doing and where there are opportunities to make life better together. We have so much to celebrate about living in Headwaters. What is it that we cherish, and what is it that we are concerned about that needs more action?
We are curious and committed to learning. We listen to all voices and perspectives and look to data for guidance. – HCIA Values and Principles
The reports typically use information gathered through citizen surveys and feedback from a series of community conversations, as well as census and other publicly available data for our region. They reflect upon what we hear and will, we hope, initiate conversations that move us to collective action for a vibrant, sustainable and resilient community life.
In 2021, this effort has merged with the Community Safety and Wellbeing Plans municipal plans mandated by the Province of Ontario, which recognizes the important role of this type of broad public engagement, collaborative priority setting and collective action on community priorities.

HCIA remains closely involved in the CSWB Integration Table, ensuring citizen engagement and accountability mechanisms are in place for these plans, and that there is a focus on the Social Development and Prevention layers of the CSWB framework, which help ensure longer-term, multi-sector and citizen-informed solutions.
