2024 Dufferin County Community Grant Recipient
$2,000

Sharing our story

The Brave Canoe was honoured to receive the Dufferin County Community Grant, which played a pivotal role in launching our organization and establishing our presence within the community. The $2,000 grant allowed us to purchase essential materials, including deer skin and beading supplies, which became the foundation for our early programming. These resources enabled us to host cultural events that brought Dufferin County residents together to learn, create, and connect through Indigenous traditions.

The project directly benefited Dufferin County residents by fostering cultural exchange and understanding. By creating spaces where residents could engage with Indigenous ceremony, culture and tradition through meaningful, interactive experiences, we laid the groundwork for ongoing reconciliation and strengthened the cultural fabric of the community.

The grant also supported The Brave Canoe’s mission of building bridges between Indigenous and non-Indigenous residents. We are deeply grateful to the County of Dufferin for investing in this vital work, which has been transformative for our community.
