Sharing our grant

The Dufferin Parent Support Network (DPSN) knows that when parents feel supported, it has a positive ripple effect on the well-being of their children and in turn our community. DPSN is committed to providing access to parenting workshops designed to support parents and caregivers facing common but challenging family issues, such as managing stress, handling big emotions, and encouraging positive behavior in children. This series of virtual workshops led by expert facilitators, covered topics like stress and anger management, positive discipline, and communication strategies for family connection. By holding workshops online, DPSN addressed barriers to access—such as the need for travel and childcare—ensuring that busy or overwhelmed parents could easily participate.

The impact of the grant on Dufferin residents has been profound: parents report feeling more confident and equipped to handle parenting challenges, leading to healthier family dynamics and improved emotional resilience among children. Ultimately, by empowering parents with practical strategies, DPSN’s initiative supports the growth of stronger families and more resilient youth, contributing to a healthier, more connected community across Dufferin County.

“DPSN’s workshops gave me a better understanding of why small children act out in negative ways for what can appear to be for no reason and helpful suggestions on how to approach it in a positive way to create less of a stressful situation for all.”

“I have attended many workshops hosted by DPSN and all have given me a helpful leg up in my parenting. I can take away something from each workshop and implement it into my family life. Builds my confidence as a parent and lessens the yelling and stress in the household.”

“With our busy lifestyles and multiple children, I have found through several workshops some tips and tricks that we have implemented within our home that have seen beneficial changes in our parent/child relationship.”

“I have done a couple of workshops and have learned a lot. Being able to help put these things into our daily life is slowly but surely helping.”
