Fresh Fundraising for Schools
Looking for a novel and healthy fundraising alternative for your child’s school? For the 2015-16 school year, the Fresh From the Farm Fundraiser is now available to schools in the Upper Grand District School Board!
This program offers bundles of Ontario potatoes, carrots, onions and sweet potatoes, as well as gift boxes of apples for kids to sell to friends, family and neighbours in the community as a fundraiser for their school.
It’s a WIN-WIN-WIN situation:
- WIN for Ontario farmers who supply all of the produce and receive 50% of the sale price.
- WIN for families who benefit by eating healthy meals made with these local vegetables and fruit.
- WIN for the school, which receives 40% of the proceeds from students’ sales. This program also aligns with Ontario’s School Food & Beverage Policy and Local Food Act. More WINS!
Help the HFFA Farm to School team make sure this pilot program succeeds so that it will continue to be available in future school years, selling more locally grown food and connecting to student learning about food and farming. With so many family farms in our hills, if this program is destined to succeed anywhere, surely it’s here in Headwaters!
It’s easy to register and you can do it now here: http://www.freshfromfarm.ca/Enrol.aspx
You will receive a campaign pack in late August. The fundraiser runs in October. The bundles are delivered in November.
Short on volunteers or champions to run it for your school? HFFA can help! Email us at food@headwaterscommunities.org and see about participating in a group campaign that could include your school.
